Coding for Kids, Stevensville, MT

Coding for Kids is a nonprofit organization in the Bitterroot Valley of western Montana. Its success is due to the wonderful collection of people that are committed to its mission to provide fun and educational technology-based classes for students in the valley, both in summer and after school during the school year. In partnership with the Stevensville school, Coding for Kids has provided STEAM classes for elementary and middle school students since 2017 and is now expanding into high school and grades 1 & 2 for a full program for grades 1 – 12.

The team consists of a wide spectrum of organizations and local professionals managed by a board that is supported by amazing teachers, local technology companies, and generous foundations and local donors. Our new partnerships with LMG Security, Advanced Technology Group, Montana Studios, and Skyfish will help us design and teach relevant, work force-related classes and to offer internships for high school students interested in advancing their technology and business skills. The expansion into high school is possible due to grants from several local foundations dedicated to youth education. An enthusiastic parent and student community completes this wonderful valley-wide team.

WHO WE ARE

Coding for Kids of the Bitterroot Valley is designed for students grades 1-12 to explore science and technology through practical and interactive methods. We believe science and technology are core skills required for future workers, yet engaging youth requires us to find creative ways to energize our learners. We distinguish ourselves by designing classes that focus on practical, experiential learning with active student participation, whether that be building a robot to deliver a package, learning to fly a drone, filming a story, collecting real data to construct a map … or so many other technology-based activities.

Coding for Kids is committed to inclusion. We have designed our classes for a diversity of ages and interest areas and are particularly focused on increasing the number of girls in our program. We work tirelessly to offer scholarships so all kids can enjoy our courses.

Coding for Kids is a registered 501c(3). All donations are tax deductible. Please use our DONATE button at the top of the page or contact us if you are interested in contributing to this exciting program.
